Stevie Nicks has said that the members of Fleetwood Mac will probably never reunite or tour again, following the death of Christine McVie last year.

McVie - who was a full-time member of the band for over 20 years and wrote some of their most beloved songs, including Don't Stop and Songbird from their monolithic Rumours album - died following a short illness in November 2022.

Following her death, Mick Fleetwood did tell fans that the band would probably never perform again together, since "the line in the sand has been drawn with the loss of Chris. I’d say we’re done, but then we’ve all said that before."

But now, Stevie Nicks has more or less confirmed that Fleetwood Mac's touring days are officially over, since the loss of McVie is too great for them to overcome.

Speaking to Vulture in a new feature, Nicks called McVie her "best friend" and that following her death, it would be "Impossible to replace her" in the inner-workings of the group.

"Christine was the pop star. She wrote all those really super pop hits," Nicks said, probably speaking about her solely-written hits Don't Stop and Songbird. "What would happen is we’d have to take the songs out, like we did when she actually retired for 18 years. We couldn’t re-create those songs."

She continued: "Without her, what is it? You know what I mean? When she died, I figured we really can’t go any further with this. There’s no reason to.”

The members of Fleetwood Mac - namely Nicks, McVie, Mick Fleetwood, and John McVie from the band's most recogniseable line-up, with new members Mike Campbell and Neil Finn replacing Lindsay Buckingham - were last seen together on their 58-date tour in 2018, An Evening With Fleetwood Mac.
