AC/DC

AC/DC are an Australian rock band formed in Sydney in 1973 by Scottish-born brothers; rhythm guitarist, backing vocalist and songwriter Malcolm (born January 6, 1953) and lead guitarist and songwriter Angus Young (born March 31, 1955). AC/DC’s first main line-up were completed by singer Bon Scott (born July 9, 1946, Forfar, Scotland), drummer Phil Rudd (born May 19, 1954, Melbourne, Australia), and bass player Mark Evans (born March 2, 1956), releasing their debut album High Voltage in 1975. AC/DC underwent a change in lead singer personnel when Bon Scott was found dead after a night out in London in February 1980, and while the band considered splitting immediately, they hired Brian Johnson (born October 5, 1947 in Dunston, Tyne & Wear) who remained in the band until 2016 when he retired sighting hearing issues. AC/DC have sold more than 200 million records worldwide, and their 1980 UK Official Album Chart Number 1 album Back in Black has sold an estimated 50 million units alone, making it the highest-selling album by any band. AC/DC continue to tour, notably with Guns ‘n’ Roses’ lungsmith Axl Rose on vocal duties, after the departure of Malcolm Young in 2014, after he was diagnosed with dementia and died on November 18, 2017.
