MARILLION

Marillion are a British rock band, formed in Aylesbury, Buckinghamshire in 1979, whose current line-up consists of guitarist Steven Rothery (born November 25, 1959), keyboardist Mark Colbert Kelly (born April 9, 1961 in Dublin), bassist Peter Trewavas (born January 15, 1959, Middlesbrough, North Yorkshire), Ian F. Mosley (born June 16 1953, Paddington, London) and Steve Hogarth (born Ronald Stephen Hoggarth, May 14, 1959 in Kendal, Westmorland). Marillion grew from the ashes of local band Electric Gypsy, forming Simarillion before amending it to Marillion in 1981 when original singer Fish (born Derek William Dick on April 25, 1958 in Dalkeith, Midlothian, Scotland) joined. Marillion scored a succession of hit songs during the mid-1980s, and hit the Number 1 spot on the Official Albums Chart with 1985’s Misplaced Childhood, among a catalogue of success that outlasted Fish’s brief tenure (81-88) with the band. Marillion are considered one of the pioneers of crowdfunding and fan-funded releases, and have sold over 15 million records worldwide. Image: Shutterstock
