SICK BOI

Sick Boi, released 13 October 2023, is the second album by Welsh singer, rapper and producer Ren. Created while Ren was receiving treatment for several chronic illnesses, Sick Boi forms a loose concept record around Ren's battles with his health, both physical and mental, originally conceived as a straight hip-hop album before becoming more fluid, with injections of tracks that riff on traditional pop melodies, EDM dance music, drill and even traditional Welsh folk music.
In its opening week, Sick Boi ended up in a nail-biting neck-and-neck chart battle with pop veteran Rick Astley's Are We There Yet?, and while Rick took an early lead in the midweek Official Chart Update and maintained it for most of the week, Ren overtook in the final 24 hours to land at Number 1 on the Official Albums Chart. Sick Boi became not only Ren's chart debut, but a chart-topping one too.
