We might be baubles-deep in the Official Christmas Number 1 single race right now but, following the news that Olly Alexander is to represent the UK in next year's Eurovision Song Contest, we can't help but already feel a little giddy for 2024.

Next year's contest will be held at Malmö Arena, Sweden following Loreen's record-setting win for the country with Tattoo in May. And, while full details of 2024's Grand Final are yet to be confirmed, today Eurovision fans enjoy their first look at the show's staging.

And it's fancy.

Next year's Eurovision staging and lighting will be the work of Florian Wieder and Sweden-based Fredrik Stormby of Green Wall Designs; with the Lighting and Screen Content Designer unveiling his work through a series of newly-released, sketched images.

Green Wall Designs have also worked on Beyoncé's RENAISSANCE World Tour, The 1975's At Their Very Best show and the groundbreaking ABBA Voyage spectacle; arguably quite the impressive pop portfolio.

Next year's cross-shaped staging is a unique 360-degree experience that surrounds the audience and viewers; placed centrally inside Malmö Arena.

This staging puts the audience more in focus than ever before. The focal point of the design is a monumental installation, a "centre piece" of video and lighting above the stage; the lighting designed to embrace the artists and their performances.

Fredrik Stormby, co-founder and CEO of Green Wall Designs says: "Green Walls Designs is honoured to be working with SVT as the Lighting and Screen Content Designer for The 68th Eurovision Song Contest in Malmo, Sweden. We are excited to deliver a spectacular show in our home country and for audiences across the world."

The team involved in producing the 2024 show also includes Executive Producer Ebba Adielsson & Christel Tholse Willers, Exec in Charge of Production Tobias Åberg, Executive Line Producer Johan Bernhagen, Show Producer Per Blankens, Contest Producer Christer Björkman, Head of Production David Wessén, Technical Show Director Ola Melzig, Associate Lighting Designer Mike Smith & Michael Straun, and Content Designer & Producer David Nordström and Line Producer Veronica Skogberg from Green Wall Designs.

This comes after Olly Alexander - formerly of Years & Years - announced himself as the UK's Eurovision 2024 entrant on last weekend's Strictly Come Dancing live final.

Working alongside producer Danny L Harle, who most recently worked on Dua Lipa's Top 5 hit Houdini, Olly has so far revealed that the track is 'not a ballad.'

Speaking to BBC News this week, Olly teased: "I wrote the song with Danny and it'll be coming next year. It's really good. It's going to be electronic. Something you can dance to. I can't say more than that."

"Well, he can say a little bit more than that, actually. When asked if it was a ballad, Olly had a definitive answer to your worries.

"I mean, it wasn't gonna be a ballad. Or maybe it could have been a ballad. I love a ballad. Am I saying too much now? It's not a ballad."
